Introduction
I’ve tried a lot of sustainable personal care items over the years. Some have been good, others, not so much. One of the categories I’ve found incredibly difficult to find the right option for me is haircare. In the past, I’ve tried shampoo and conditioner bars from a wide variety of brands. While some have been amazing, there have often been downsides. For example, some were brilliant at caring for my hair, but the price was prohibitively expensive, or they were difficult to find in stores local to me. Others were average in performance but very affordable. Some ended up mushy in the shower, or the size of the bar was a little too small to be able to share with my husband. Overall, I don’t think I’ve ever been truly satisfied with what was out there. When KinKind wanted to send me some products to test, I jumped at the chance – maybe this might be the brand for me when it comes to sustainable haircare…
Who are KinKind?
KinKind is a multi-award-winning British beauty brand dedicated to making plastic-free, results-driven haircare and skincare the global standard. Founded by Victoria Coe, the B Corp Certified company focuses on high-performance, waterless formulations—such as shampoo, conditioner, and moisturiser bars—that eliminate the need for single-use plastic bottles. By utilising natural-origin ingredients and a low-carbon, “through-the-letterbox” delivery model, KinKind offers a sustainable and affordable alternative to traditional beauty products without compromising on quality or efficacy.
Unboxing and KinKind Review

KinKind sent me their Complete 90 day Hair & Skin Reset bundle to try. It included the following:
- A 4-tier storage caddy
- 2 travel tins for your shampoo and conditioner
- The KinKind Shampoo Bar & Conditioner Bar – Make me SHINE!
- The REFRESH me! Organic Bodywash Bar
- My YOUTHFUL Glow! Face Moisturiser & REPLENISH me! Night Cream
On unboxing everything, I was immediately impressed by the look, feel and scent of the products. I was also impressed by the quality of the shower rack and travel tins. The outer boxes of each product as well as the shipping box were recyclable cardboard which is always nice to see from a sustainability perspective.
KinKind Shower Caddy and Travel Tins Review

As odd as it sounds, I’ve wanted a shower caddy like this for several years. I first saw one advertised on social media with a brand I knew nothing about for a price that wasn’t in my budget at the time. I decided to leave it but haven’t stopped wanting one ever since.
The construction of KinKind’s shower caddy feels sturdy and also claims to be rust-proof – this is great as I stopped buying anything metal for my shower several years ago due to how tired they can look once rust sets in, not to mention the mess.
I really like how each bar is able to get enough airflow, and, during use, I haven’t noticed any issues with any of the bars getting sloppy, despite them permanently living in my shower. The little tags to label each bar are as adorable as they are useful – I’ve never seen this before, but I really love it.
The travel tins are lightweight enough to be able to take on holidays but still feel like they will last a long time. The only negative is that it can be difficult to get the bar out of the container, especially if it was damp going in and has stuck to the bottom. In the past though, when encountering this issue, I’ve found placing a short piece of ribbon under the bar can help to lever it out.
KinKind Shampoo and Conditioner Bar Review – Make me SHINE!
I have always been a sceptic when it comes to solid haircare. While I’ve tried various brands in an attempt to move away from plastic bottles, my past experiences left me frustrated. I often struggled with bars that were either overpriced for their size, far too drying, or simply disintegrated into a “goop” in the shower. I’ve even dealt with conditioner bars that felt like they were doing nothing at all, leaving me tired of risking my hair (and my budget) on products that didn’t deliver.
However, KinKind has been a genuine turning point for me. Specifically designed for those of us with coloured hair, these Give Me SHINE! bars are formulated with a 4% Gloss complex with glycolic acid and seaweed. They are advertised to restore and repair the hair cuticle for a glossy finish, and I can happily report that they deliver on that promise. After use, my hair feels hydrated, soft, and has a healthy-looking shine that I usually only get from high-end bottled products.
Both the shampoo and conditioner bars have a lovely, gentle fragrance that lingers without being overpowering. The shampoo creates a perfect lather—enough to feel thoroughly clean without being difficult to rinse or stripping the scalp.
The conditioner bar was the real surprise for me; it actually feels like bottled conditioner when applied. It has a great “slip,” making it easy to detangle my hair—a first in my experience with solid bars! Unlike some previous brands that felt like a waste of money, I genuinely love the results from KinKind and will definitely be repurchasing.
The sizing is also spot on. They are substantial enough to last but compact enough for travel. My husband and I have both been using them every other day, and I’d estimate a pair of bars lasts about a month for two people. They hold their shape well in a humid shower and don’t require “babying” to stay solid, though letting them dry between uses is always best.
Considering one KinKind bar replaces up to two 250ml plastic bottles, this isn’t just a win for the planet—it’s a genuine saving for my monthly budget. If you want hydrated, shiny hair without the plastic waste, these are well worth the switch.

KinKind Body Wash Bar Review – REFRESH me!
KinKind’s bodywash bar is a straightforward product – much like a regular soap bar, however, I really like the brand’s consideration for including aloe vera and glycerine in the formula. I believe the ingredients have made a difference in preventing my skin from feeling dry and tight -a common issue when I use ‘normal’ soap bars. With KinKind’s body wash bar, my skin is left feeling clean but balanced.
The REFRESH me! bar’s fragrance is light enough to not be overpowering but still very much there so it creates an enjoyable experience. The bar claims to last up to 30 washes which I would say is correct – there was a small amount left from my husband and I using it after 2 weeks.

KinKind Skincare Review
I had the opportunity to try both the My YOUTHFUL Glow! Collagen & Moringa Oil Moisturiser and the REPLENISH me! Collagen & Super Nutrient Night Cream and have incredibly positive opinions of both of them.
The night cream is formulated with collagen, shea butter, avocado, and jojoba oils while the moisturiser is made with collagen, moringa oil, hyaluronic acid, retinol and rice bran oil.
Both creams share the essential oil blend of rose geranium, damask rose, and frankincense – the brand describe it as ‘spa-like- and I would definitely agree!
The night cream is slightly thicker than the moisturiser but still feels light on the skin. The moisturiser absorbs nicely and sits well under make up – something many moisturisers out there fail to do!

Overall Pros and Cons of KinKind
Pros
- Affordable – while the brand isn’t ‘cheap’ it certainly isn’t overpriced for the quality of the products. At its current price-point, I’m more than happy to regularly purchase products from KinKind.
- Low mess – as mentioned before, the shampoo and conditioner bars do not turn to mush in the shower which is a massive bonus in terms of less mess and low waste.
- Sustainable – KinKind ticks so many boxes for me sustainability-wise. From the plastic-free nature of the products, the encouragement of reusing the moisturiser tins for future shampoo/conditioner bars as well as their B Corp status, overall, I’m happy to have found them.
- Quality formulas – both my husband and I can experience irritation from products if they are not formulated in a way that is kind to skin. Neither of us have had any issues and, if anything, experienced overwhelmingly positive results from all of the products we tried.
Cons
- Travel tins – as I touched on prior, the tins can be slightly fiddly when it comes to getting the bars out. I’d love to see a square shaped option in the future to mitigate this issue.
Final Thoughts: Is KinKind Worth It?
After years of “making do” with sustainable swaps that left my hair feeling like straw or my shower covered in mush, KinKind has been a breath of fresh air. The standout for me is undoubtedly the KinKind Conditioner Bar; it’s the first solid conditioner I’ve used that actually delivers the slip and hydration of a bottled product.
The overall quality of the 90 Day Hair & Skin Reset bundle is impressive. It’s affordable, British-made, and—most importantly—it actually works. If you’ve been hesitant to ditch the plastic bottles because of past poor experiences with other products this is the brand that will likely change your mind. It’s certainly earned a permanent spot in my routine.

The brand have also asked me to share the KinKind discount code FREECONDITIONER – this makes a shampoo and conditioner set 50% off as the conditioner is free. You can view their range here.
