Introduction

Having already used Wild deodorant in the past, I was really interested in trying out their other products. When speaking to friends, many expressed that they didn’t even know Wild produced other items besides their well-known refillable deodorant so I’m also excited to tell you a little more about these items in this article.

As someone who is interested in the sustainability of the products I use, refillable options have always appealed to me. In this article, I’ll be discussing several of Wild’s non-deodorant, sustainable offerings,

Wild Shower Gel Review

Shower gel from Wild comes as a refillable container and a separate compostable refill. All you do is open up the container, take the cap off your refill bottle and insert it into the container, screwing on the pump once it’s inside. The outer container is made from aluminium, besides the pump which is plastic.

Pros

  • Aesthetics – if you’re someone who has a specific bathroom colour scheme, it’s really handy to never have to worry about having mis-matched bottles on your shelf given that you reuse the outer container for Wild shower gels. It doesn’t matter which scent you choose to put inside; you’ll always only see the outer colour you originally purchased.
  • Sustainability – the inner refill is compostable and does not contain a plastic liner so it will break down on a home compost heap.
  • Formula – the formula does not include parabens, aluminium or sulphates and is vegan. It lathers nicely and only two pumps was needed to wash my entire body.
  • Fragrance – I tried the Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt scent and really enjoyed the smell during use as well as the mild scent left on skin once out of the shower.

Cons

  • Careful drying – when switching out the refill, I noticed a tiny amount of water inside the casing. While this didn’t cause a problem to the refill, making sure the container is dry inside is something I’m cautious of.

Wild Lip Balm Review

Wild lip balm, like their deodorant and shower gel, is also refillable. Refills can be easily slotted into the outer casing when you run out. I tried the Peach and Mango scent.

Pros

  • Quality container – I’ve had many lip balms in the past and have often lost them long before I’ve finished them. This is normally because they’re small and easily fall out of my bag or pocket. Wild’s lip balm container feels much more like what you’d normally see on a lipstick (slightly larger than a lip balm, a touch more weight and sturdier). Personally, I really appreciate this as it will be easier for me to look after and less likely to misplace. I also feel that the container will last a long time, given the structure and quality of it.
  • Formula – the formula includes natural botanicals and oils. This is something I really appreciate as I tend to gravitate towards more natural products in general.
  • Feel – on the lips, the balm is light but still feels protective and hydrating. It also disappears without any stickiness or excessive oiliness as time goes on.

Cons

  • Very light scent – personally, I would have enjoyed slightly more scent, but I appreciate that this is a very individual opinion to have as not everyone likes more strongly scented products, especially on the face.

Wild Shampoo Bar Review

Wild’s shampoo bars are an eco-alternative to conventional bottled shampoo. Ordinarily, shampoo bars last longer than liquid (providing they are dried between uses) as formulas are often more concentrated. Wild claim that their bars last 2-3 times longer than liquid shampoo and that they will leave hair soft, shiny and smelling great. I tried the Jasmine & Mandarin Blossom Mini bar.

Pros

  • Formula – the bars are, according to the website, ‘vegan and powered by plants, without any harsh chemicals or sulfates’. When using the bar, it lathers a decent amount but not excessively – this is something I look out for as I’ve found that a highly ‘soapy’ product has tended to dry my hair out in the past.
  • Results – my hair felt clean and soft after use with a pleasant scent that faded to no scent after several hours. I feel this important to mention as I’ve had shampoos in the past that go from smelling nice immediately after washing to quite unpleasant after mixing with natural skin oils over the course of the day. My scalp also felt moisturised and non-irritated.
  • Plastic free – the shampoo bar came in a simple cardboard box with no plastic wrappings.

Cons

  • Small – while I appreciate that the bar I tried is the ‘mini’ size, I’d personally like to see all scents offered in the larger size (currently, only one scent is available) as I feel I’d go through the mini bar size too quickly, especially when sharing with my partner. However, the price for the mini is very reasonable, ideal for those just looking to try out Wild’s shampoo bars or those trying to pack light for travel.

Wild Shampoo Refill Review

I found Wild’s liquid shampoo refill at my local Tesco but cannot see them online so I’m unsure if they are still being made. Regardless, I wanted to share my thoughts here.

Pros

  • Formula – I really love how clean my hair feels with this product. I felt so clean, I almost expected it not to work in terms of being moisturising and gentle on hair but it definitely ticked the boxes there for me too.
  • Refillable outer container – Wild make a beautiful range of containers to refill. Their handwash, shower gel and shampoos can all fit into the same outer casing so you’re free to mix and match according to your style or taste.

Cons

  • Availability – as I mentioned above, I am unsure whether this product is still being produced at the moment as it was not online (when I last checked!) and I only noticed it by chance in my local supermarket.

Wild Hand Wash Review

Hand wash is one of Wild’s newer offerings and I was really glad to see this release. I’ve always thought that their refillable pump bottles would look lovely next to the sink for when guests come round.

Two bottles of Wild refillable natural hand wash in Citrus Burst and Spa Daydreams scents on a grey surface.

Pros

  • Nourishing – I’ve often had issues with other hand washes out there. My hands can end up feeling incredibly dry and irritated after just a couple of uses throughout the day. Wild’s hand wash felt good on my skin while still giving me that clean feeling you want from a hand wash.
  • Refillable – once again, I love that these fit into the same refill pump containers as other Wild products.

Cons

  • Price – while still inexpensive, these hand washes are slightly more than what I would ordinarily spend on this type of product. However, I personally think they are worth it vs the skin irritation I can experience with other brands.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed trying out each of these products from Wild and can definitely see myself repurchasing. My favourite was the shower gel as I really like the concept of the refills, the look of the container and the overall quality of the shower gel itself. I’m really looking forward to trying out the other available scents in each product in the future.
