Huel Flavour Review Introduction
Having tried all of the different flavours of Huel, I wanted to create this article as a bit of fun, as well as to possibly help others to identify what flavours they might like to try from the brand. I’ve written more in-depth reviews of Huel products here and here, so they might be a good read if you’re unfamiliar with what the brand offers.
To be completely clear, I’m no food critic, I’m just a person who loves to rate and review things in an honest and unfiltered way – in other words, these are completely my own opinions. I may love something that you hate and vice versa – we’re all different, and that’s ok.
In this post, I’ll be rating various flavours from the Huel product range.

Huel Flavours (Huel white, Huel V1/V2)
Huel advertises this product as:
“Complete nutrition, bottled. Our original meal in a bottle: 20g of protein and all 26 essential nutrients, pre-portioned and ready to go. No prep, no fuss – just grab and go.” (source)
Huel Ready-To-Drink Review – Overall Thoughts
The RTD bottles are my busy day essential. While I do use the mix-at-home powders, I personally think you can’t beat the texture of these. To me, they are so much smoother and creamier. They’re my go-to when I’m running out the door and just need something that tastes good but actually benefits my body.

Berry
My Thoughts: I went into this thinking I would hate the Berry variation of Huel. I’m not a big fan of fruit-flavoured desserts or fruit yoghurts. I also generally only like strawberries as opposed to other red fruits. On opening the bottle, I was pleasantly surprised to see a light coloured shake – no lurid pink colours like many milkshakes out there! The taste is a natural strawberry, possibly some raspberry coming through. Having been worried I was going to be confronted by a dark, cherry-like forest fruit flavour (which I really don’t like!), the experience was lovely. I would compare the taste to a yoghurt breakfast drink, but with the classic Huel oaty undertone, which only adds to the creaminess in my opinion.
Overall Rating: 10/10 – very happy to have found a new go-to flavour. Would be best at breakfast time, in my opinion.
Banana
My Thoughts: Banana-flavoured ready-to-drink Huel has a nice, balanced level of sweetness. The flavour is also really natural tasting, so it tastes like an actual banana rather than something like a candy or synthetically flavoured product in my opinion. I really like it overall, but wish there was slightly more banana taste as it’s not overly strong.
Overall Rating: 7/10 – would choose this flavour again.

Vanilla
My Thoughts: Simple but good! The vanilla flavour is ‘there’ enough to have a nice flavour, but not overpowering that it becomes sickly. The sweetness level is about right for me – not too much but also not too little either.
Overall Rating: 7/10 – can definitely see a time where I’d enjoy this – perhaps during a time where I’m not looking for particularly strong flavours.
Chocolate
My Thoughts: I’m not sure on this one. It has a very classical cocoa flavour as opposed to a milk chocolate type taste. As a self-confessed chocolate lover, this didn’t tick the right boxes for me. It isn’t very sweet, it has a bit of a strange smell in my opinion, and it reads more of a protein shake type taste rather than the smooth oatiness of the other flavours. It also reminds me of the chemical-like taste of some chocolate breakfast cereals.
Overall Rating: 2/10 – I’d have it if there was nothing else left in the house, but it definitely doesn’t top my list. This may be good for someone who enjoys chocolate as a flavour but hates overly sweet drinks.

Cinnamon Swirl
My Thoughts: If I had to choose one Huel flavour to buy, it would be this one. Outside of Huel, I’m obsessed with cinnamon buns so this only makes sense. The taste is cakey and reminiscent of buttery pastry, the cinnamon flavour comes through gently but at just the right level and the sweetness is perfect. The flavour is also really smooth and satisfying.
Overall Rating: 10/10 – a must-try if you love pastries and cakes. My absolute go-to.
Strawberries and Cream
My Thoughts: Unlike Berry (discussed above), Strawberries and Cream tastes more like a typical milkshake as opposed to a yoghurt drink type flavour. The strawberry taste isn’t overly strong so it comes across as natural rather than artificial. The cream aspect also pairs really nicely with the typical oat flavour of Huel.
Overall Rating: 6/10 – very nice, wish it were a little stronger in strawberry taste. A good option but I would prefer others before I chose this flavour.

Iced Coffee Caramel
My Thoughts: I struggled to taste the caramel aspect of the flavour, mainly experiencing the bitter coffee. This option isn’t very sweet so if you’re someone who loves an overly sugary coffee beverage, this might not be something you’d enjoy. I quite like it as I’m a black coffee drinker normally. This variant does have caffeine in it, which I personally like – it’s good for that afternoon slump when I’m feeling snacky.
Overall Rating: 5/10 – this flavour definitely has a time and a place in my routine, given the caffeine content. I just wish it had slightly more caramel taste!
Salted Caramel
My Thoughts: The initial hit of this flavour is like a caramel-flavoured biscuit or cake. As you continue drinking it, this then fades to become a pleasant sweet flavour (I’m glad of this; a highly intense caramel flavour throughout might make it difficult to finish). I really love how this flavour melds with the Huel oatiness so it makes for a really smooth experience.
Overall Rating: 9/10 – love this flavour and think it would be something a lot of people would enjoy.

Huel Black Flavours
Huel advertises this product as:
“More protein. Zero prep. All gains. Each bottle delivers 35g of protein, balanced carbs, healthy fats, and all 26 essential vitamins and minerals. Just grab, shake, and go – no blender, no measuring, no excuses.” (Source)
Huel Black Ready-To-Drink Review – Overall Thoughts
I tend to reach for Black Edition when I know I’ve got a long day ahead and don’t want to be thinking of how to fit in a nutritious meal. I also love them on days I’m doing heavier gym training. These contain more protein and fewer carbs vs regular Huel so, for me, they feel a lot heavier and more substantial in a good way. It’s definitely more filling, so I usually save this for times where I know I’ll need the extra fuel.
Strawberry Banana
My Thoughts: This flavour smells like a fruit smoothie but has a more delicate, creamy taste. I really liked that, vs a smoothie, this flavour isn’t overly sweet and generally well-balanced.
Overall Rating: 6/10 – While I liked this, I feel like there are others I’d reach for first, such as the Strawberries and Cream or Berry flavours.

Chocolate Peanut Butter
My Thoughts: I’m not sure if its my imagination but I found the texture of this flavour to be thicker than the others. I feel that this adds to the indulgent taste of this option however. The taste is more generically nutty rather than specifically peanuts in my opinion. I also think it’s important to go into this one not expecting it to taste like a candy bar. It’s in its own lane flavour-wise but I really love it.
Overall Rating: 9/10 – It only lost a point as while the thick texture is nice, it isn’t the easiest to get down early in the morning.
Cookies and Cream
My Thoughts: I didn’t think I would like this one as I’m not normally a huge fan of biscuity themed flavours. However, this option is creamy and very reminiscent of when you accidentally drop a piece of biscuit into a cup of milk but still drink it anyway – mostly milky tasting but with just the right amount of biscuit flavour.
Overall Rating: 8/10 – It doesn’t top my all-time favourites list but its very good in my opinion.

Huel Lite Flavours
Huel advertises this product as:
“Lighter calories. Full-on nutrition. Smooth, high-protein, and effortlessly convenient. Ideal for days when you want something light but still genuinely nourishing.” (Source)
Huel Lite Ready-To-Drink Review – Overall Thoughts
Overall, Huel Lite Ready-to-Drink is a great option that fits seamlessly into my daily routine. As someone who has tracked my calories for many years, I absolutely love that this version offers fewer calories without compromising on nutrition, making it easy to fit into my overall dietary goals.

Mango
My Thoughts: I haven’t tried many mango flavoured shakes in the past so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it tastes like a creamy smoothie, without the excessive thickness/texture that often comes with fruit-based smoothies. The sweetness is also just right – not too much that you can’t finish it but enough that it still tastes like the fruit itself.
Overall Rating: 9/10 – I know I’ll be reaching for this again, especially at times where I’m not in the mood for the classic strawberry, chocolate or banana shake flavours and want something a little more interesting.

Huel Daily Greens Ready To Drink Flavour Review
Huel describes this product as:
“You’ve never had greens like this. A lightly sparkling drink with 41 vitamins, minerals, superfoods, and adaptogens. No scoops, no shaker, no powder – just crisp, refreshing greens.” (Source)
Huel Daily Greens Review – Overall Thoughts
I was fully prepared for these to taste like blended hedge, but they’re actually really enjoyable and refreshing. These sparkling cans are amazing for getting in vitamins without feeling like I’m drinking something medicinal. They’ve got a botanical vibe, but they’re light enough that I can just grab one from the fridge and drink it like a regular fizzy drink while I’m going about my day.

Blueberry, Lemon & Thyme
My Thoughts: This option has mainly a blueberry taste with citrus notes – can’t really notice the thyme, which, part of me is glad of, as I don’t normally tend to gravitate towards that style of flavour profile. The regular, mix at home Huel Daily Greens has a mild earthiness/fruitiness which is also noticeable here – I like that as it helps to make this drink more complex overall.
Overall Rating: 7/10 – This feels like something that would go well with relaxing while watching a movie. The taste is sophisticated but also not too ‘out there’ to enjoy casually.
Peach & Hibiscus
My Thoughts: The peach flavour here adds a smoothness to the earthy undertone of Huel Daily Greens – I really enjoy it as it feels reminiscent of the sparkling flavoured water I used to drink all the time as a child. The hibiscus, I feel, elevates the taste with a gentle tartness. It almost adds a pleasant dryness to it which prevents it from becoming too sweet.
Overall Rating: 9/10 – The flavour combination really complements the Greens formula – one I would recommend to someone unsure about Greens products if they’ve had negative taste experiences in the past with other brands.

Apple, Cucumber & Mint
My Thoughts: To me, apple is the most dominant flavour here, behind that is the regular earthiness of the Daily Greens formula. If I really think about it, I think I can tell the cucumber is there but it isn’t a strong flavour by any means, likewise with the mint.
Overall Rating: 5/10 – This isn’t bad by any means but I think the other two flavours are more interesting and complex compared to this one.

Huel Daily A-Z Vitamins Energy Drink
Huel describes these as:
“Your nutrient boost in one refreshing sip. A fruity, lightly sparkling drink packed with 26 vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes to help power daily energy. Delicious, simple, complete.” (Source)
Huel Daily A-Z Vitamin Drink Review – Overall Thoughts
I’ve pretty much ditched the standard supermarket energy drinks for these. Most energy drinks make me feel a bit twitchy, but these give a much steadier lift without the crash afterwards. They taste like a nice, fruity soda, so it feels good to get all those vitamins and minerals in while also getting my caffeine fix for the afternoon.
Strawberry & Watermelon
My Thoughts: The best way to describe this is that it reminds me of a melted ice lolly in the best possible way. The main flavour is strawberry but the watermelon helps to cut the heaviness/potential sickliness of a purely strawberry-flavoured beverage.
Overall Rating: 10/10 – Love this taste, feels like it would pair well with a long car ride with the windows down on a sunny day.

Blue Raspberry
My Thoughts: I’m torn over this one. While I enjoy the initial flavour (strong blue raspberry), it feels like too intense of a taste to continue drinking after the initial first few sips. My husband is a lover of very strong flavours however and absolutely loves this one.
Overall Rating: 5/10 – A fun flavour but possibly more for those who love impactful taste.
Pineapple & Mango
My Thoughts: This flavour is tropical and juicy which, for me, is one of my favourite taste combinations. It reminds me of regular fizzy drinks in the flavour and is one I keep coming back to.
Overall Rating: 10/10 – A firm favourite.

Cherry & Raspberry
My Thoughts: I’m not a lover of cherry ordinarily but this Daily A-Z flavour is very well balanced. I really love how the raspberry is sweet but not overwhelmingly so. If you love cherry though, there’s definitely still enough of that flavour to satisfy.
Overall Rating: 7/10 – The only thing stopping me from loving this one is the cherry taste but besides this, it’s very nice.

Huel Complete Nutrition Bar
Huel describes these as:
“Your favourite chocolate bar, upgraded. Soft, chewy, and seriously satisfying with up to 15g of protein, plenty of fibre, and 26 essential vitamins and minerals. The perfect pick-me-up between meals or after a workout.” (Source)
Huel Complete Nutrition Bar Review – Overall Thoughts
Huel’s Complete Nutrition Bars are easily one of my favourite discoveries from the brand. Packed with protein, fibre, and 26 essential vitamins, flavours like Dark Chocolate & Raspberry and Chocolate Caramel genuinely satisfy my sweet tooth without the sugar crash. They keep me full for a long time, making them my absolute go-to snack to stock up on for busy travel days or long afternoons at work when convenience food starts calling.
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
My Thoughts: They weren’t lying when they said ‘fudge’. This bar is rich and has a texture very similar to regular brownies, with a minor amount of graininess being the only real difference. The taste is authentically chocolatey.
Overall Rating: 8/10 – Really like this one and tastes miles better than fudge brownie protein bars I’ve tried in the past.

Chocolate Caramel
My Thoughts: I love this option – it isn’t like anything I’ve tried in the past – not a chocolate bar nor a protein bar. The taste is balanced between the chocolate and caramel layer – it’s satisfying but not excessively sweet.
Overall Rating: 9/10 – One of my top picks!
Peanut Caramel
My Thoughts: Before I tried this for the first time, I assumed it would be exactly like any of the peanut chocolate bars I’ve tried in the past but I would argue that this is better. There’s something about this which tastes far more ‘real’ vs the synthetic sweetness you often find in traditional chocolate bars.
Overall Rating: 7/10 – Love it but it comes in slightly lower than the others as I’m not always into the nutty texture – I have to be in the right mood!

Dark Chocolate and Raspberry
My Thoughts: This bar is decadent – it reminds me of something you’d find inside a fancy box of chocolates. The raspberry is at just the right level to not be overwhelming yet strong enough so it doesn’t become overpowered by the bitterness of the dark chocolate. Despite finding it annoying when they end up in my teeth, I also really love that there’s real raspberry seeds in this vs just flavourings.
Overall Rating: 8/10 – Gorgeous flavour, wish I wasn’t so hypersensitive to having seeds in my teeth!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
My Thoughts: This is my favourite of all the options. To me, it tastes so similar to the chunks of cookie dough you find in some brands of ice cream. There are visible chocolate chips inside and the texture is just right – not too chewy or heavy.
Overall Rating: 10/10 – Start here if you’re not sure what to go for!
