Why Vaginal Probiotics?
Since being a part of the FAM (fertility awareness method) community, I have always been fascinated by all of the different products out there for women’s health. With research, some turn out to be just gimmicks (not mentioning anything in particular) while others can be legitimate wellness tools. I’d heard about vaginal-specific probiotics for a while but, living in the UK seems to have meant that I lack access to some of the weird and wonderful formulas and potions that my US friends can find in their local stores. That was until I learned about Daye and their new ProViotics. As someone who has witnessed numerous online debates about the best probiotic for vaginal health, the idea of being able to access a product here in the UK was exciting for me.
The vagina has its own natural bacteria which, when in balance, help to keep it healthy by preventing other, less friendly, organisms from increasing. Probiotics from Daye contain 5 billion live cultures of Lactobacillus plantarium per tablet. This specific strain has been clinically validated for safety and effectiveness in human trials. The tablets may reduce the likelihood of vaginal infections such as BV, yeast infections as well as UTIs. The product is also vegan.
Using Daye ProViotics
I personally chose to try out this type of probiotic as I had never explored these kinds of products in the past. At the time of testing them, I did not have any kind of active infection so was trying them purely to see if I felt any different as well as to support my day to day gynaecological health. I took them daily orally throughout the month – they are safe to take daily or after a course of antibiotics.

My initial reaction to my delivery was that the packaging was as beautiful as it is sustainable. There was an outer brown paper envelope (which was quite discreet beyond the Daye logo – no reference to what the company specialises in). Inside that, there was a box that contained the tablets. These were packaged inside an aluminium pot. Note: there have been a few iterations of packaging options for this product so please take my images as just a guide.

On opening the tablets, I noticed that they had a sweet odour and were brown in colour. The size wasn’t particularly concerning if you struggle to take tablets although they do not have a coating so you do need a decent amount of water to comfortably swallow them. I was also glad that I did not have to store this type of probiotic in the fridge, unlike other types I have tried in the past.
My Thoughts
In terms of results, as I did not have any kind of active infection at the time, I cannot speak to what they may do for that. However, I did feel like I had done something beneficial for myself once I had finished the pack. I’m glad I did a course of probiotics because of the advertised health benefits of improving vaginal flora even if I did not notice any big difference. I feel that the price is quite comparable to other types of probiotics on the market so I wouldn’t really say they are overly cheap nor overpriced. I would definitely consider using them again in the future. I would also love to know whether anyone reading this has previously used probiotics for BV and whether Daye Proviotics compare when used to support the vaginal environment in this manner.
