Introduction
In this article, I want to talk about all of the items that made a difference to my wedding. To define things, by wedding, I mean the periods immediately leading up to my ceremony and reception, the days themselves and our honeymoon. While some of the items listed here are from brands I have an affiliate relationship with, I want to be clear that I wouldn’t talk about something I didn’t really enjoy personally.
It Luggage Vanity Case

While, to some, this probably isn’t overly interesting, a major question of mine throughout the wedding planning process was how to get all of my things to each location. For example, my ceremony was in Glastonbury, my reception was closer to home and then, after just over a week, Mike and I jetted off on honeymoon.
I’ve never really felt fully satisfied with my baggage options – they were either too big, too small or offered very little protection to the items inside. Also, I rarely had the opportunity to do much about this as many of my pieces of luggage are hand-me-downs from relatives. While this is great from an environmental standpoint, it meant that nothing ever truly spoke to me or was specific to my needs.
Enter: the It Luggage Vanity Case. Personally, I didn’t even know It Luggage produced items like this, but I was very pleased to see it. They very kindly gifted me a vanity case in the stunning rose gold colour. Until this point, I specifically lacked a piece of luggage that was large enough to contain my Kindle, electronics, snacks and documents on longer travel but also small enough that it wouldn’t be excessive to take on shorter, more local trips.

For my wedding, I chose to use this bag for its intended purpose – to hold make up, skincare and other related items. For me, it worked perfectly as I felt secure in the fact the bag is hardshell, so things were unlikely to get smashed if the bag was knocked. There is also several loops and zip compartments to keep things safely secured. The outside of the bag is, in my opinion, really stylish and feels good to carry around. It has the option of being carried by the handles on the bag itself or with the shoulder strap which is nice.
Having had the opportunity to own a bag like this, I honestly recommend it and didn’t realise how useful it could be for all kinds of travel scenarios! I honestly see myself even using it for very minimal packing for overnight trips e.g. one change of clothes rolled tightly, toothbrush and basic hygiene and cosmetic items.

Pretty You London Nightwear

It feels quite vulnerable to discuss this but that’s what this blog is all about – talking about things other people don’t feel able to. To explain as best as I can, I’ve never had particularly aesthetic nightwear. My whole childhood, teenage years and adulthood so far have involved either very classical pyjamas (think brushed cotton with puppies on or similar), mismatched bargain bin pyjama bottoms paired with an old, tatty t shirt or homemade pyjama bottoms. While there’s nothing wrong with any of these options (personally, I love the homemade ones as my mum made them and gifted them to me), I always felt like I was missing out on wearing something nice at night. Much like the feeling of walking into a lingerie store, I wanted to experience the ‘fantasy’ of wearing something I found really beautiful.
Until now, the idea of exploring aesthetically beautiful nightwear never felt that important – I was worried about costs, how enjoyable it would actually be to wear day to day and, most prominently, would it actually be comfortable? However, with the wedding looming, I felt compelled to finally revisit this area of life. I wanted to be able to have ‘getting ready’ pictures taken on the wedding day – something that simply isn’t right (to me – I’m not judging what other people get up to) while wearing an old t shirt with a baggy neck or bottoms with a skincare stain that just never came out.
Pretty You London got in touch to ask whether I’d like to try out anything from their range and I jumped at the opportunity. Since forever, I’ve loved the look of sleep shirts. I’m a shirt type of girl in my everyday life so I also love this style in terms of nightwear.
On trying on the sleep shirt for the first time, I immediately went to where Mike was using the PC to ask him to stroke my arms. Why? Because I was sure he’d never felt fabric so soft before – I certainly hadn’t! The sleep shirt I chose is made with bamboo which helps you to thermoregulate as well as being eco-friendly.

Having seen the product page, I was a little concerned initially that it may feel restrictive, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The fabric has a light amount of stretch – not enough to make it feel like it will go out of shape but enough to easily move your arms and not end up with restriction at the waist if, like me, you love to get snacky in the evenings. The overall length of the garment feels perfect to me – not too long that it gets in the way of walking around but not so short that I’d be worried about answering the door to the postman.

Water Bottle
This might seem overly simple but, for me, it was vitally important to stay hydrated throughout this time. I really enjoy carrying my Contigo bottle (not sponsored, I picked mine up at TKmaxx). Initially, I was hesitant to use this style of bottle (straw top) as I was convinced that they would harbour bacteria and generally be really gross really quickly, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Providing I wash it regularly and make sure all parts of the bottle are getting cleaned, it’s been absolutely fine. I also love that it doesn’t make water taste weird which is definitely a bonus. The only issue I’ve noticed is that it definitely doesn’t do well with air pressure on planes – when opened after landing, it has a tendency to spill everywhere.

Wild Lip Balm

Dry lips were definitely something I wanted to avoid for the wedding. Previously, I wasn’t really committed to any particular lip balm brand. I’d tried lots and when I did fall in love with one a few years ago, it was discontinued. If you’ve read any of my reviews, you’ll know that I really value sustainability and longevity of products. Wild Lip Balms are refillable, and the cases feel really nice – like a high-quality lip stick. My Wild Lip Balm came everywhere with me throughout the wedding time, and I was really glad I decided to pack it!

Scissors
This probably sounds incredibly simple, but scissors were hugely important for our wedding. Immediately before our Glastonbury Ceremony, I realised I hadn’t cut the coat hanger ribbons out of my cape. I also forgot to remove the swing tag off my shoes. Without scissors on hand, I would have risked damaging the items so I’m really glad I had some in the bottom of my suitcase.

WUKA Period Pants

I’ve already discussed these in another article but they made such a huge difference with me being able to use the bathroom easily in my large gown. The WUKA Flex Detachable period pants range have hooks at the hips so you are able to change in and out of them without removing trousers, unlike regular period pants options. When wearing a large dress, this is a game-changer as you can simply unhook one side and let them slide onto one leg while using the toilet. Besides being excellent period pants, I really believe that the detachable sides are a game-changer in the underwear world and I 100% recommend them!
