[AD] A Wild Deodorant Review: New Wild Roll-On vs. The Classic Stick [My Quick Thoughts]

Introduction

I’ve been using Wild deodorant for a while now and, overall, really enjoy the products the brand produces (other reviews I’ve written can be found here). When Wild announced their new roll-on, I jumped at the chance to try it. Given my interest in refillable, sustainable or otherwise reduced-waste options when it comes to my skincare/hygiene products, I haven’t used a traditional roll-on since my teenage years.

About Wild Roll-On Deodorant

Wild advertise their new roll-on with the following benefits:

  • Fast-drying
  • 95% natural origin
  • 24hr protection and triple action odour defence
  • There’s no single use plastic and refillable.
  • Refills biodegrade faster than a banana.
  • Aluminium free, paraben and phthalates free
  • Invisible
  • Vegan and leaping bunny certified.

At the time of writing this article, they offer three different scents (Honey & Cactus Flower, Coconut & Vanilla and the one I have, Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt) but I’m under the assumption that further scents and possibly special edition fragrances may be released over time given their track record with their stick deodorant.

How To Refill Wild Roll-On Deodorant

The new roll-on is as easy to refill as the brand’s original stick deodorant. Uncap the refill and open the casing, screw the refill bottle into the lid of the roll-on and then snap the casing back together.

Pros of Wild Roll-On Deodorant

  • Actually dries fast – the formula genuinely does dry quickly, I’d say it’s similar to the speed a moisturiser would dry down. This is extremely beneficial for me as I usually find myself in a rush to get dressed in the morning.
  • No white marks – an unfortunate thing with the original stick deodorant is that I need to be careful when dressing in dark colours as it has occasionally transferred white marks. The roll-on formula is invisible as advertised which is amazing.
  • No odour issues – like Wild’s stick deodorant range, I haven’t experienced any issues with odour, even on workout days.
  • Sustainable – I really enjoy how I’ve finally been able to use a roll-on without the environmental impact of single-use plastic. Wild also ship their products in recyclable cardboard.
  • Aluminium free – many people have their own opinions on aluminium in deodorant products, but I’ve personally avoided it ever since I learned I could purchase products without it. I’m glad to see that Wild have formulated aluminium just on the basis that it fits my preference.
  • Casing – the casing is high-quality, sturdy and the design is beautiful.
  • Good on skin – besides the roller ball being smooth and comfortable to use, I’ve noticed my underarm skin feels soft since using the product.

Cons

  • Slightly less scent – I’ve personally noticed a slightly weaker scent from the roll-on formula. I attribute this to it being a thinner consistency as opposed to creamy, so the scent tends to wear off more quickly. Despite this, I haven’t noticed any odour issues, so this doesn’t bother me too much.

Conclusion

I personally see myself purchasing more of the roll-on formula from Wild as opposed to their stick option just on the basis of the formula being invisible. I find it to be just as effective as the original creamy formula so it’s a win overall for me.  I also love how they’ve continued to produce high-quality reusable cases for this product line.
